Donut heaven on Nantucket

I have been eating these donuts for over 45 years, I must admit. As a we spent our summer vacations on Nantucket. Downyflake use to be on South Water St. near where Fog Island Cafe presently is located. The donut maker was Andy. He was a friend of Mom and Dads. We loved going there for his fresh made donuts. Great memories. Now, they have moved to Sparks Ave. I had not been in quite some time. I went with my DSM and we scoffed down 1 each and shared another. Quite simply this is THE best donut ever. It's yeasty and light...they are small and compact..It's easy to eat one in 3 bites..I always savour mine...ahhh..ambrosia...and the chocolate covered..wow...They are .80 cents each or 3.75 for a half dozen. What a deal!!

My DSM and I head back in Sept. and will spend a bit more time at Downyflake..what a place!

I was staying in a surfside house the other week and made a stop there to pick up goodies for breakfast. Had the sugar and chocolate...both excellent. Also tried the blueberry crumb cake which just falls apart and melts in your mouth....so good!
