Soy Frozen Yogurt

nycfoodie5 Jun 26, 2011 04:51 PM

I've been trying to eliminate dairy products from my diet, but I am a serious frozen yogurt lover. Does anybody know of any places in the city that have frozen yogurt that's perhaps made from soy milk? Thanks.

My favorite soft serve in the city is made from soy. It's the cake batter soft serve at Lula's Sweet Apothecary, on East 6th street between A and B. Everything there is fabulous-they always have 2 soft serves (cake batter + one rotating, usually chocolate), plus many flavors of hard ice cream that are all vegan. Some are made from soy, some are cashew, some are coconut. All are amazing!!! Love that place.

Glad you enjoy it as much as I do! I used to live in the west village and would walk two miles roundtrip multiple times per week just to have it. Sooooo good.

Kyotofu has very good soy-based soft serve; I believe it's technically ice cream not yogurt, however. Many of their rotating flavors are Asian-inspired flavors. I especially recommend the nutty-tasting black sesame.

How funny, I was recently there (before I decided to give up dairy) and completely forgot about that soy-based ice cream - thanks for the reminder!
