CG's Burgers / Town & Country / Kendall

Made my way to the new CG's Burgers in Kendall this past Thursday evening and left very underwhelmed as I felt that I had just visited a glitzier version of 5 Guys. I ordered their 9 ounce big burger and it was hefty and cooked correctly. They forgot some salt and pepper and this was a bland monster that was rather tasteless. If not for the salad and swiss on top of it this burger it really would have been a train wreck. The fries were hot and looked good but the texture was soft and wimpy - these were fair at best. The dark chocolate milkshake was very good and the best part of the meal - however it was just 8 ounces and at $4.50 not much of a bargain. They did have a salad bar and at $9.99 was way over priced and with no visual attraction - just throw out there and good luck to you.

The decor is warm and the flat screens are a nice touch. The personnel was friendly. This place should have a much, much better burger - but doesn't. The wings looked good but I didnt try those as this is a buger place and I was there for t he burger. I won't get that chance as there won't be a next time with CG's.

The Yelp-arazzi had chimed in with a lot of negative reviews when it first opened, and I think it was largely due to the ill-advised "free burger" promo on opening day where things would be hectic. I finally checked in earlier this month and walked away with a positive impression. It opened around the same time as BGR The Burger Joint did on Miracle Mile, and I'd sooner go back to CG than BGR.

A CG is set to open in Merrick soon, and that one will also include the coal-fired pizzas they have in Jupiter.

I think we're all getting so jaded because of all of the presumably "gourmet" burger joints opening all over town, that few seem to stand out. The food truck burgers (the Macho from Latin Burger and the Mad Love from Latin House Grill) put some of these "gourmet" burgers to shame. Still, I did have a good time at CG, but perhaps it's because I went with low expectations after the negative reviews.

Yelp-arrazzi.....everyone with a data phone has become a critic and that is probably not a good thing.

I was under the impression that all CG's would be like the Palm Beach Gardens pilot store with burgers and coal fired pizza. I guess I was wrong.

Both Jupiter and PBG locations are consistently good. I've never had a complaint.

I guess it's expectation level for me....This is supposed to be a hamburger that's a step above the rest....and that's what their pricing suggests....This was a very plain burger....edible...but plain.....My expectations were high based on what I read about the places in Jupiter and PBG....My bill for for the 9 oz burger, fries and a chocolate shake was $18.....With that level of pricing I expected better......That's all....
