Miami Restaurants HELP!

We booked a last minute trip to Miami and need some help with the food - Ocean Drive's restaurants all seem inauthentic and overpriced. I would welcome any recommendations on great places around the area (we don't have a car and don't want to travel too far) for casual good food that's not overpriced.
We also don't mind spending the money IF the experience is worth it. Would love some authentic Cuban or Mexican recommendations but not limited by that at all.
Thanks for any recommendations!

Be sure to check out Tap Tap, a Haitian restaurant in South Beach without the usual South Beach pretensions (excellent mojitos, too). Puerto Sauga for casual Cuban. But Todd's right, check the Miami board....

Tom - went to Tap Tap last night and it couldn't have been better. Excellent recommendation! Huge thank you. If you're curious we had the whole snapper in a scotch bonnet sauce and the creole shirmp with coconut.

We're thinking about going back tonight:) thanks again!

Michael's Genuine, Xixon, and Pubbelly are a must. Also there is a south FL specific section of chowhound, check that out.
