The edit function is chopping off letters from my posts.

This has happened to me a couple of times now. After editing one of my posts, the first letter of a paragraph disappears. When I try to edit the post to add the letter nothing happens. Here's my post:

There should an "A" at the beginning of the third paragraph. I can't find the other post where the same thing happened.

I've also had over half of a post completely disappear for no reason and replaced by "C2". That one is pretty baffling. I'm pretty sure that was a post I had edited a couple of times, but I always re-read myself and am positive I never typed the "C2" in question. I only noticed it when someone had bumped the thread.

nyway, thanks for looking into this,

  1. Holy crap! It just cut the "A" off from "Anyway" after I edited my post.

    BTW, I'm on OS X 10.6.7 and Safari 5.0.5.

This is related to a problem that we (presumably) fixed a while back. Capital A's and D's at the beginnings of paragraphs were being dropped, colons followed by a new line were turning into weird symbols, etc.

Please clear your browser cache and let us know right away if you notice any of those issues again.

Thank you. I cleared my browser cache and will notify if it happens again. BTW, I had cleared my cache, two days ago if that matters to you.

That is definitely odd, then. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Had this problem a few days back...cleared the cache.......problem solved ......until this evening.....problem returned

It's possible that one of the servers failed to update correctly when we pushed our fix. We've just reset things on our side to make sure. In theory, anyone experiencing the problem from this point forward should only need to clear their cache one more time. If not, then something much stranger is going on.

Thanks. I've cleared the cache and will come back to the thread if the problem's still there.

            2. re: Engineering

I've had both problems while editing.

I will clear my cache and see if that corrects the problem.

Lol - I was wondering who this Nyway was that you were thanking!

        3. 've never had that roblem.

          1. Still having the problem.

On a post I just made, I went back to edit something in the middle of the post and it's now dropped off my final wo

            1. And I just corrected a typo in my previous post - and it;s dropped off the final two characters of "word" and the period - I had not typed "wo".

              1. This problem - which I originally reported at - is definitely still occurring and still needs fixing.

I've cleared all my cache etc and I just had it happen again. I had a paragraph which started with a capital A and it was dropped when I edited the post. I'm going to start the next paragraph with a capital A and then go back and edit this post. Let's see if it drops the A.

And I really hope that this problem can get fixed, because it's really annoying! I hope Engineering can fix it, once and for all.

EDIT: Okay, for whatever reason, it didn't drop the A at the start of the paragraph above, in this post. But it dropped the A starting a paragraph in my other post, unless I preceded it with a space. The other post is at

It's happening to me, too, and I don't even have the slightest idea what my cache is, much less how to clear it!

Here's a link that explains what it is and how to clear it for various browsers:
