Miracle foods

What do you eat when something ails you?

For me, when I am sick, a hot bowl of rice with fried egg or some beef broth, rice and kimchee. And when I am sad, some chocolate, especially chocolate covered almonds or M&Ms.

Any of a variety of noodle+broth soups for colds/flu. Ginger snaps or milk chocolate when i feel queasy.

Milk chocolate for queasy? That's interesting, but a bit counterintuitive to me. I wonder if the cacao has a soothing effect, but it'd be low in milk choc.

I think it might be mostly psychological honestly. Most of the times I'm queasy it's due to stress or anxiety. The only others times I feel unsettled are due to motion sickness, and ginger takes care of that.

I love to peppermint gum when I am queasy! My sister eats sour gummy worms when nauseated.

Unfortunately the thing I want most when I'm sick is the soup I make for my friends when they are - a chicken, tomato, brown rice and sweetcorn thing with plenty of chillies. Cures everything, but making it when I'm sick myself just isn't going to wash. Ramen (not the instant packs) or pho are winners with me. Also, last time I was working after a little too much vino and not enough sleep the night before, I had a bucket of chicken noodle soup from a UK chain of take-out places called Eat. It was like drinking the elixir of life.

Wanton noodle soup. It's just so comforting when you're sick or sad.

Homemade chicken soup always tastes good when feeling down. Hot tea with ginger, lemon, and honey is nice, too.

Great Grandma used to swear by blackberry brandy for a cold/flu. I don't know if it worked or if you just didn't notice the symptoms so much after a few toddies.

            Hot and sour soup. Ambrosia!

When I'm sick, pho. With lots of lime, sriracha and fresh jalapenos for the Vitamin C and the sweat effect. But I like your sick food too. :)

Nothing so specific when I'm sad.

Pho all the way. Either that or chicken noodle, yum.

Meatloaf if I'm seasick. Bourbon and ice cream to get over a cold.
