Fancy vegetarian?

  • 5

Can you guys recommend some vegetarian-friendly fine dining? I'm thinking something along the lines of Wink and Olivia, although I'll welcome more upscale suggestions as well. Thanks!

  1. The best vegetarian tasting menus we've had have been at Uchi/Uchiko. Oddly, my wife prefers Uchiko and I prefer Uchi.

    1. other than wink, olivia and the uchs, i think you would be hard-pressed to find a lot more vegetarian fine dining here.
sure, we have tons of vegetarian places and options at non-veg restaurants.
but, they are mostly mid-range or casual.

      1. We've had success with vegetarian options at La Condesa, Fino, Wink, Uchi (they'll do a whole vegetarian tasting menu if you ask), and Second. We've never gone, but I was told Aquarelle will also do a vegetarian tasting menu. We also recently had friends tell us they had a great vegetarian meal, assembled across a few courses, at Hudson's on the Bend, which surprised me. I guess they try to have at least one vegetarian entree now.

yes, i was gonna say the same thing. Hudson's on the Bend usually has one veggie entree now and it's usually really good.

Wink has had the best veggie fine dining experience for me personally... just ask for the tasting menu and have them create veggie options on the spot for you. with wine pairings it's even better...

i'd asked for a veggie omakase menu at Uchi once in the past, and they basically gave me the veggie options that were already on the regular menu. i think i'm the only one that had that experience though... :| tomato katsu, sunomono salad, and brie ringo were always good options. haven't had the veggie options at uchiko, since i'd lost my soul and became a pescatarian...

Aquarelle veggie option is hit or miss, i wouldn't bet on it.

Jeffrey's has a token veggie entree, though i've never had it... can also start with one of their salads or soup, which are all veggie-friendly at the moment.

Eastside Showroom is a bit quirky, but has upscale-ish offerings, including a couple of veggie options. curried grits and greens sounds kinda boring, but i really liked it... and the croissant was amazing the first time i had it.

i agree with what you posted...

there are a lot of fine dining places that may have vegetarian options.
but, wink is one of the few restaurants that has an actual vegetarian tasting menu, which will give diners a lot of things to experience and savor.
