Drinks near/at Columbus Circle?
Need a place for good cocktails/drinks near Columbus Circle tonight. I like Stone Rose, but it's a little aggressively sexy, and I'm looking for something with similar quality cocktails but a more low-key atmosphere. I'm also considering The Library at Hudson Hotel, or drinks at Bar Boulud (if they have them, as DBGB does - all I see on the webiste is the menu). Any suggestions or opinions on the above welcome.

I've had pretty good experiences at Landmarc in the Time Warner Center...nothing that will blow you away, but the staff is friendly and the after-work (usually post-happy hour by the time I get out 7:30ish) atmosphere has been a good mix of lively and laid-back both times I've gone...

The Empire Hotel Lobby is a pretty good place for drinks in this area. Very dark and modern, yet low key. I enjoy it, it is somewhere in the middle - not too glam, but not too casual. Bar Boulud has no bar area that I would feel comfortable drinking (and not eating) in, so I might advise against it. However, they do have a fantastic wine list!

Cafe des Artistes, on 67th St. just off Central Park West, just reopened as the Leopard at CdA. I always liked the bar there and loved the murals, which have been preserved.
Does anyone know if this might fit the bill?

I went a couple of times at Robert in the Arts and design museum at 2 Columbus circle. It has a great view of Central park and the restaurant is beautiful. I never had dinner there but went a couple of times for drinks.
There is also the bar in the Blue ribbon sushi bar and grill. The bartenders are excellent there! Their yuzu margarita is the best.

I had a good Manhattan there after a work meeting in the area. I can't attest to the food though as I only had a drink. But atmosphere wise this could be what you looking for.

Marea, Picholine, Ma Peche, Lincoln, and Boulud Sud all have very nice bars. I'm not a big drinker though so I can't comment on the quality of their cocktails, but I assume they're all on the same level as DBGB and Stone Rose.
