Berlin - Pan-Asian at Nu

This place was my second lunch option actually last Saturday - I'd traipsed all the way to Cafe Einstein for lunch at Kurfürstenstraße, then found out when I got there that it was closed for private wedding luncheon (should have called ahead to enquire/book)

So I went to Nu, this pan-Asian place off Ku'damm which I understood was popular amongst the younger set Berliners looking for something slightly more exotic.

The menu surprised me at first glance - a hodge-podge of Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese. I ordered Chinese deep-fried shrimp-filled wantans, which came with spicy-sweet Thai chilli dip. These were absolutely scrumptious.

Not so great was the Thai khao soi - Chiengmai-style curried chicken, usually served with two types of noodles - soft egg noodles folded into a thick unctuous coconut milk-infused curry, then topped with crisp-fried noodles. The different textures of the two noodles give khao soi its unique character. But at Nu, they strangely used white rice noodles instead of yellow egg noodles for the crisp-fried portion of the noodle dish.

The flavor of the curry was also not as sharp, spicy nor as fragrant as I'd expected. Quite a disappointment, really.

But the service staff were ever so polite - I spoke to them & learnt that the place was Vietnamese-owned. Maybe I should've ordered the Vietnamese (if I'd known earlier) options on the menu!

Looks live you've had a little bit of time to explore Berlin. I'll be there soon and was wondering if you had any other recommendations?

I'm just a visiting CH to Berlin & not too familiar with the local dining scene, so I think you'd probably get more solid recs from Berlin-based CHs such as linguafood:
