Honeymoon Dinner in Carmel, suggestions?

  • 9

Looking for the best romantic restaurant in Carmel (or within 15 min drive from Carmel Highlands) for our first dinner together after our wedding.

We are total "foodies" who enjoy the best of everything, including wine and/or cocktails. Romantic ambiance may actually be the most important element here though, and being open Sunday night.

We really appreciate any suggestions!

  1. A very lovely place with outstanding food. Check out their web site at
    http://www.antonandmichel.com/
They do a great job on the rack of lamb.
The Classic dinner is great for two.

    1. I'm biased toward Casanova's since we just celebrated our anniversary there. We were in
Carmel for 8 days (returned 6/22/11) and enjoyed several wonderful meals. Casanova's was the only repeat restaurant with one dinner and one lunch. Tell them your occasion and ask for one of their "nooks." There were several "fresh" options not included on their regular menu; everything was well prepared and their wine list was good (steward was very knowledgable).

      1. Its been a couple of years but Pacific's Edge in the Park Hyatt has killer views and is high end. Also Aubergine in L'Auberge Carmel is excellent, too. Roy's and Peppoli at the Inn at Spanish Bay are consistent, too.

We just dined at Roy's last week after 18 holes at Peter Hay golf course on 17 Mile Drive. They have beautiful views, great food and we heard the bagpiper play. Pacifric's Edge is my favorite special occasion restaurant in this area. It is one of the most expensive places in the area, also. We have had two lovely meals at Anton & Michel, also. The ambiance is beautiful, try to get a table by the window that looks out to fountains. :)

        2. Are you by chance getting married at Highlands Inn? We just had our 22nd anniversary trip there and it was really beautiful.

I wish we had eaten at Big Sur Bakery for one of our dinners. I think it would have been EXTRA romantic (we only went there for breakfast). They have a website, where you can see if it fits your definition. Only problem is, you'd have to be a pretty fast driver to make it in 15 min. ;-)

We had lunch at the Hyatt and it was not good. I saw a lot of recs for Pacific's Edge before our trip, but I would be leary of dining there, given what we had at their more casual restaurant.

          1. I will second Roy's. Don't miss the sablefish/black cod if you go there.

I had a really great meal at Passionfish Grill in Pacific Grove last September, and I think it was on a Sunday. The prices were very reasonable too.

I had one meal at Anton and Michel several years ago, and vowed to not return. Besides the food being substandard, the waiter was rude.

            1. I second Passionfish in Pacific Grove but if you prefer something in Carmel I suggest Bistro Moulin or L'escargot (Both Romantic French restaurants that cater to foodies). Happy Anniversary!

I think you mean La Bicyclette in Carmel since Bistro Moulin (excellent too) is by the Cannery in Monterey.
