Ave B Pittsburgh question

I'm returning to your lovely city in a month or so to eat at Salt again, and have but one day.
Is it worthwhile for me to get up early enough to make lunch at Avenue B? The dinner menu sounds much more interesting, but lunch is all I have time for...
And - it's BYOB, right? And would I have a problem getting in (for 2) on a weekday without a reservation?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Thanks...yes, I wish I could stay longer, but my time is not my own.

Tell us what you ordered after you eat, David.

Sorry, we didn't make it - a wild thunderstorm delayed our departure - we stopped at 1:30 in St Clairsville Oh for a quick lunch at Mehlman's instead. Maybe next time.

yep BYOB, I don't think you'll have trouble getting a table. Worth it? Not sure. It's too bad you can't spend too days and have a dinner at Notion.

      Salt is my number one.

I had the grilled cheese and tomato bisque for lunch, for which I made no reservation, and at which there were a couple of empty tables, on a weekday about a month ago. The soup was too salty, so the waiter suggested substituting a salad, which was absolutely delicious. The sandwich was also excellent.

Dessert, a deconstructed blondie, was nice, but I really wanted the sour cherry cobbler listed on the chalkboard menu. However, I wasn't able to order it because what I'd been reading all lunch long was the previous night's menu. I'll eat at Avenue B again, but I plan to call to see what's for dessert before I go again for lunch.

I don't know about the wine situation.
