Baked rigatoni with sweet Italian sausage?

I recently had a fabulous meal in the Bay area and I'm hoping I can find something similiar in my neighborhood! I had baked rigatoni with sweet Italian sausage in a meat sauce topped with Italian cheeses. It was homemade pasta (huge rigatoni tubes) with molten cheese on top and amazing sausage/sauce. Mouth watering good! Any place in the Venice, Santa Monica, West LA area you can recommend that has this?!

  1. I like the pasta at Osteria Mozza and the sausage is excellent too. Don't know if they are offering that exact dish right now but probably worth checking.

If you are willing to heat and eat, I have a suggestion. Marco, the owner of Guidi Marcello has a lovely wife who is a great cook. She makes a fabulous lasagna. Given that Guidi Marcello sells the highest quality rigatoni and great Italian sausage, I have to believe that a conversation with the Boss (Marco) may convince him to ask his wife to prepare the dish you want. If not, trust me, the lasagna is incredible.

I've never heard of this place maudies5, I must go check it out, seeing it's in our 'hood and all. Is it a store or restaurant?

                  1. re: Phurstluv

Guidi Marcello is a wholesale Italian grocer who sells to many Italian restaurants in the So Cal area. There is a small retail store where they sell great items such as cheese, olive oil, wine, desserts made my Bindi (you will recognize those desserts from some of your fave Italian restaurants). In addition, I love their pizzas, which are in their freezer. They are very lightly sauced and it's a lot of fun buying stuff at Guidi Marcello to put on top. I generally come home with pancetta, speck, that great mozarella that all of the restaurants use . Wonderful San Marzano canned tomatoes. There is a freezer case with some of Mrs. Guidi's homemade items: Lasagna is great. Also great sausages. The location is a little tricky. It is on 10th just North of Olympic. As 10th isn't a thru street, you have to take 11th to Olympic. Turn right and Guidi Marcello is in the middle of the block next to Salvation army store. Lots of Italian spoken.. Great jarred artichokes. So many good things, I could go on and on. You'll have fun. Everyone has fun there
