Seeking recommendations for friends visiting SFV (CA "Mex", CA seafood, CA nouvelle)

Reseda area, but think Burbank to Woodland Hills...

They're from Virginia/DC area and here's what they're looking for while visiting:

1 California "Mex" cafes, restaurants (Cozymel style would be fine)
2 California seafood type places
3 California New-Nouvelle Cuisine, type places.

Another caveat, while the style of a Cozymel would be fine, he also was perfectly happy with a food cart carnitas taco he once had in Long Beach. So perhaps something along Cozymel on one end and something somewhat closer to Bill Esparza (Street Gourmet LA) on the other. Nothing overly hot though. They aren't much for "heat".

Any suggestions for these kind of places would be greatly appreciated. Now, if it were noodle places in the SGV, or ethnic eateries a la Man Bites World , I'd have it covered.

For Mexican try Mexicali Cafe in Studio City, Senor Fred in Sherman Oaks and Don Cuco in Burbank.

CA Seafood, McCormick & Schmick's Burbank, King's Fish House in Calabasas or head through the canyons to go to the Reel Inn on Coast Highway.

Stuck on CA nouvelle in the Valley.

Scott, thank you. Exactly the sort of suggestions I was hoping/looking for.
