Opened & Closed - Middletown, CT

Open - LaMays Steamed burgers, Main St...Counter guy said they opened last week...Not sure steamed beef can be all that good, but they seem to have a following around here.

Closed - Nikita's Bar & Bistro - alright, "bistro" might be stretch here, they did have a nacho plate the size of Texas...It was a good happy hour joint and didn't cost an arm and a leg. Was it a rent issue? My prediction is that'll reopen as a bar only sort of place. The skankier Hair of the Dog Saloon seems to be doing okay, though they're a bit smaller.

Well, well, well--yeah, you had to grow up in a ZIP code around here to feel the love for a steamed cheeseburger. So, wait, you went to LaMays, but didn't try one?!

NOT cool re Nikita's--and I've seen the major platter of nachos of which you speak. That's really too bad. Though it never seemed packed the couple of times I was there--seemed to have far more space than they needed. Also agree "bistro" is a big stretch, but it was a good HH joint for sure.

And it looks like public market scored nikita's dog themed iron railings and tables for outdoor dining amid the street people

It's a dog-eat-dog world, esp. in the North End, so I guess it fits! Plenty of colorful people-watching and the food is great from Public Market...though I prefer to eat it at home. :)
