Restaurant for Rehearsal Dinner in/near Shrewsbury
Looking for a restaurant that can accommodate about 25 people for a wedding rehearsal dinner in or near Shrewsbury. Wedding is at Shadowbrook so we don't want to do rehearsal dinner there. Moderately priced Italian maybe?

You have received some nice suggestions. Some which are excellent restaurants (and there's a significant price tag attached to that i.e. Ama. I'm sure you can negotiate a per head price, but it won't be cheap). Plus Ama is in Atlantic Highlands which is a bit of a ride from Shrewsbury/Red Bank.
I still like Luigi's as the room can handle you, it's new, and the food is good and inexpensive. Plus it has the added luxury of truly being local should you have folks in the bridal party staying at the Molly Pitcher or the hotel right off exit 105. Little Silver is centrally located which can't be said for Sea Bright and Monmouth Beach locations. The traffic along Ocean Ave is pronounced on Friday nites which is why I wouldn't recommend them.
Trust me, you won't be disappointed in Luigi's as I took the wife, and my oldest son and his girlfriend their recently and very much liked what they've done. Nevertheless, let us know what you decided on and how you enjoyed it.
For what it's worth, I have a good friend who is now the head chef at the Shadowbrook. While they have kept their menu model the same for years now, Mark has made some significant improvements to the houre' derves (sp) portion of your evening. That should keep most folks content and satiated.

Anna's Italian KItchen in Middletown does a great job with these functions, they are BYOB so the costs go down considerably, especially for a young wedding party that wants to throw back a few.
Only challenge is they will not do it on a Friday night, If you need a Friday in the summer you will of course be challenged almost everywhere....
Two ideas for a summer Friday woudl be :
My Kitchen Witch in Monmouth Beach, great food, $35 a head for 3 elegant courses, you will have a private room and you can bring your own there as well.
If you wanted a full bar or a cash bar on a summer Friday evening you can also look at Philominna's, the newly opened Italian in Sea Bright, they have a tiki bar on a deck overlooking the shrewsbury river you can use pre or post dinner and an upstairs room that has a great ocean view.

You may want to consider Luigis' a pizza/Italian restaurant in Little Silver (right next door to Contemporary Motors - Benz dealer should you want to google). They bought the storefront next door, decorated the place beautifully and can handle your party of 25. Further, it is moderately priced, huge portions - great staff, great deal.
We've dined there and the food is good.

For good Italian with enough space to accommodate your party, I would try Piccola Italia in Ocean (about a 15 min drive from the Shadowbrook). Although I'm not a huge fan, you might also try either La Pasteria or Buona Sera in Red Bank (both should be able to accommodate the size as well). Good luck.
