Pecorino Brentwood or Il Grano or a third choice?

Want to take someone who is Italian to a good italian place on westside LA without too much pretension. Pecorino and Il Grano were two thoughts. Any others? Preference of one of these two over the other?

Divina in Brentwood Court (Sunset and Barrington) is very good. Host is extremely gracious and food is wonderful.

caveat: i am making this recommendation after eating at il grano only once:

go somewhere OTHER than il grano.

for a meal that costs a fortune, in a restaurant that specializes in fish, one would expect not to have EVERY cooked fish dish served way overcooked.

Il Grano over Pecorino. Not sure what you wound consider pretension but, keeping it West of the 405, also consider Drago, La Botte, Valentino, Vicenti, or the new Villetta.

I would suggest either Valentino or Viletta.
