Looking for anniversary dinner spot in Newport/Huntington Beach
Title says it all. Looking to take the girlfriend out for a nice dinner in Newport/Huntington Beach area. I prefer something with a nice view of the water (any water); Balboa Island looks cool and so does Newport Bay, but the food is more important to me. We can go to the beach after...
As far as food goes, I don't mind spending $30-40 on a main dish. No Japanese/sushi since we already have our spot.
My quick bit of research shows Basilic Restaurant is something I wouldn't mind trying. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

A great view is from the Rooftop Bar then diner at K'ya (separate establishment but same hotel building).
I really like Tabu, but it is just over your price range (entrees are $40-50). I like the vibe of the place with smaller tables and an open kitchen, and the food is great. It is also on the wrong side of PCH for a view.

No water view but not too far from it are the Ritz (still good albeit not up to the level it was under the prior owner) and Rothschild's. If you get the right table and squint, you might get a view at Mastro's Ocean Club in Crystal Cove.
