Which restaurants do you go to at least once a month and why? What do you get?
We go to Sushi Para. Good and cheap. Texas de Brazil, love the flank steak and the beef ribs. Husband loves the lamb chops. Empire Szechuan for the jajiangmyun (sp?). Fuddruckers, we meet friends there and we like the burgers. Sweet Tomatoes, kids love it. Indian Garden or the Himalayan, especially the lunch buffets. Vince's pizza in Niles has great jalapeno thin crust pizza! Wish we lived closer to Tank, we would go there more often for pho.
The places we go to that often, we're usually doing carry-out. Deep-dish pizza, we alternate between Lou Malnati's and Giordano's. Panino's is on our rotation; we don't get pizza there, but get a variety of dishes, with the eggplant parmagian probably the most frequent. Maggiano's, we usually get a couple of large chopped salads topped with grilled chicken and sometimes an entree too, which leaves plenty of leftovers for the next day. Dengeo's, we get gyros, skirt steak, or whatever catches our attention.
The places we go most frequently to actually sit and eat in the restaurant, we don't go once a month, but once every 2-3 months: Walker Brothers (apple pancake, German pancake, spinach crepes) and Michael (anything he's got is almost always heavenly).
Almost none. Too many great offerings in this city to keep going back to the same ones that often. Even for pizza, hot dogs/sausages, burgers, or any kind of take-out. Maybe a couple of breakfast places in the neighborhood, but because they are fast, good and easy to get to.
My neighborhood breakfast joint and Thai restaurant (Alexander's and Hello Sushi, both in Edgewater) mostly for convenience, and Young's Chinese on Irving Park and Ashland, because I'm addicted and none of the Chinese food in Rogers Park/Edgewater comes close to comparing to it. Oh, and Gareeb Nawaz on Devon because I can get 3 or 4 meals for $20 and it's walking distance when the weather is nice.
