Brown Fisheries Fish House, Paradise, MI.

Anyone been?

Going there later this summer based on comments left by diners elsewhere on the web.

Do you know if they serve beer, wine, liquor?

Damn, now I want to go here.

We're going up to St Ignace this weekend for the car show, but the idea of driving another hour or two north for fish (in a 66 Nova) may be a bit much :)

I had dinner there a couple of years ago. Great smoked fish dip. Great fried whitefish. As the waitress said when she set the whitefish on the table......enjoy it, it just came out of the bay this morning.

        I've been there - it's good. Like a diner. You'll love it.

Just called them. The answer to the alcohol question is "No, we do not."

I haven't actually been there myself, or at least, not to my recollection. It's always made me chuckle that we in Michigan have a Paradise in the Upper Peninsula, and a Hell in the Lower Peninsula.

And yes: I'm a cheap date, comedically-speaking, in this case.

Thanks for going above and beyond, boag.

Guess we might have to stop at the Tahk Falls brewery before a meal at Brown Fish House. A friend highly recommended the Fish House and my sleuthing on the Net turned up glowing comments.

It sure sounds good, from what I've read. Doesn't sound fancy or anything like that...just fresh, reasonably-priced, local fish, which I'd consider to be optimal. Getting to eat fish caught that same day is almost always phenomenal, and is certainly the standard by which to judge any particular type of fish.

As always, it's entirely possible to screw *anything* up...but when you're starting with fresh fish caught that day, the biggest danger, I'd think, would be overcooking it. When you've been in business doing the same thing for as long as they have, I wouldn't even worry about it. They obviously know what they're doing.

Do tell of the experience when you return!

TQ Brewery is all right, too. Not great, but all right. Last time I was at TQ the mosquitos were epic. Bring plenty of bug dope. Spend some time in Grand Marais, too. It's what Hemingway would have done.
