Lunch spot for a baby shower

Hi!
i am throwing a friend a baby shower in July. There should be about 30-40 people at the luncheon. It will be coed and I would like to offer good food, and wine and beer - but my budget is super, super tight. Any cuisine would work as they mom to be is pretty adventurous and the location is open to the westside, the valley, and hollywood - pretty much most of LA. I think the budget restriction will be the major issue. I would like to keep the costs around $600. Any ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

Try a Middle Eastern Place....there is one on Pico, King David i think....they have a pretty patio....you have have large platters of all the dips.....pretty reasonable.

You could always just host the girls, the guys will THANK YOU...that would bring your number down....

I went to baby shower (~25 adult & kids) at 26 Beach, which was terrific. Hostess picked set menu of burgers, salads, french toast. Good food, cute patio, parking lot. Didn't rush us out -- so gift opening was done @ shower + 2 shower games (men -- you don't want to know). Don't know too many places where you can have beer/wine in a glass or juice in a sippy cup (capped plastic soda cup).

Definitely call Fritto Misto in Santa Monica. I think they might be willing to let you use their back room and help you create a reasonable menu and/or buffet. I have had parties there in the past (although smaller), and used them for catering once. They are lovely to work with and the food is delicious and light; perfect for a baby shower in my opinion.

Years ago I went to a nice baby shower at Cafe Bizou in Sherman Oaks. Looks like they have a party brunch menu for $19.95 pp. I believe they have no/really small corkage fee so you could bring your own wine.

add tax and tip to that and you will be coming in at approx twice KatieAnn's budget.

if you are open to indian cuisine, you might consider the lunch buffet offered at Jaipur.

at jaipur, you'll come in at budget.

if people are willing to buy their own beverages, the best option that i can think of is C & O cucina

at 3016 washington in marina del rey. Tax and tip and beverage here may take you slightly over budget, but still in the same neighborhood.

another possibility is that AYARA THAI CUISINE (westchester, near LAX) could set up a buffet lunch for your group in their back room.

Thank you - these are great suggestions. I was thinking C and O might be a good option. I know what I am asking for is practically ridiculous in LA but budgets are budgets and I am doing my best to stick with what I can afford. That said, I am pretty sure I will end up going over. I am hoping to enlist another girlfriend who will help me split the costs and make the budget go father!! Thanks again!
