wine country?

I'm going to go to napa (and/or sonoma?) this wknd, but I have no idea which vineyards/wineries to visit. Can you guys recommend some smaller ones, maybe that don't distribute outside of california, and that make fabulous, can't-miss wines? I love bubbles and old-world style wines.. I would really appreciate any help!!

I hate to say this, but there are precious few wineries in Sonoma and/or Napa producing "old-world style wines."

To me, this means wines that are lower in alcohol, reserved, tame, and understated in their elegance. California is known for bombastic, fruity, over-extracted, high-alcohol wines.

Bubbles, on the other hand, can be found readily at Domaine Carneros (owned by Taittinger), Mumm, Shramsberg (great tour!), Domaine Chandon, and Gloria Ferrer

CarrieWas: you left out Iron Horse (in Sebastopol - who makes, imho, Cali's best sparklings).
