Wedding Cupcakes

  • 7

My fiance and I are considering a cupcake display/tree instead of a cake for our wedding in Baltimore. Unfortunately we are not finding many reviews on cupcake wedding cakes. Do you know of any bakeries that specialize in wedding cupcakes? If not, where would recommend for the cupcakes? We were considering Georgetown Cupcakes or Sprinkles. Thank you!

  1. Georgetown Cupcakes cupcake trees are really lovely, so that's a great choice, but I think they're filming a reality show there now, if I'm not mistaken. You might want to check how this affects their schedule and booking of larger baking projects like yours.

Cakelove does wedding cupcake trees. I don't know if they do much in the way of complex icing designs. I'm pretty sure people just buy "blank" wedding cakes there and use flowers as decoration, but the cake itself and the frosting are really good.

There's also a private custom baker named Monique who services the DC/Maryland/VA area who does a lot of wedding cupcakes: <http://www.justaskmo.com/cupcakes.htm> I haven't had her cake, but I've heard they're good and that she's more than willing to customize cakes to match any design theme you might have.

    1. I have used Artistic Desserts for three events so far and not only is their work beautiful, it's incredibly delicious. They do not show cupcake trees on the website, but I do know he makes cupcakes. The website should help you get an idea of their level of expertise. http://www.artisticdesserts.com/

      1. Highly recommend G'town cupcakes.
Don't recommend Cake Love. I tried their cupcakes recently for the first time and while I found the cake to be OK, the icing was like putting a stick of butter in my mouth.

        1. I used Georgetown Cupcake to cater my wedding cupcakes. I thought they did an ok job. The cupcakes were not as fresh as I would have liked and the frosting colors were not quite what I was expecting or asked for. I probably could have handled the color issue earlier on by asking for color samples of what they planned to provide, taking pictures and then having them confirm it before production. Overall, I thought the choice to go with cupcakes was lovely though. In terms of other cupcake places in the area I'm not impressed with Cake Love. Sprinkles is delicious, but I prefer the less-sweet frosting of Georgetown Cupcake. Overall, I still think Georgetown Cupcake has the best cupcakes, but I think catering production just happens too far in advance to ensure freshness...hope this helps!

          1. My friend Suz used Sweet Sin for her wedding cupcakes in Baltimore they were fantastic. I think they are all gluten free and they advertise that, but they were also the prettiest and best tasting cupcakes I have had in Baltimore. The icings were all beautiful. So you might try a taste test there. They also did a couple vegan ones for guests who needed that.

She also looked at Puffs and Pastries in Baltimore, which she also thought were very good, a little more pricey than Sweet Sin. Oh and she said if you wanted to know about any other Bmore vendors, they looked at a ton of different options, and to give you her email. You know how to reach me.
