Tips for Dining, Eating, and Food Shopping in DC/Baltimore and Suburban Virginia

Looking for restaurants in the Alexandria/Old Town area/ DC

My husband and I are visiting Old Town Alexandria, VA for a weekend (we're from Baltimore so it's just a random weekend getaway). We are looking for some ideas for some restaurants worth hitting for breakfast/lunch/dinner... we're looking for anything - casual or upscale!
THANKS!!!

  1. Oh my where to start...

For upscale I love Restaurant Eve and Vermillion. they also just opened a new restaurant called Virtue Feed and Grain. There is also Brabo, which is quite good.

For more casual I love Red Rocks Pizza, Hank's Oyster Bar (although some of the prices there are not casual)- and they have brunch that is good, Fontaine Creperie, Overwood.

You should try to get a reservation for PX (call Eve) which is a really cool cocktail "speakeasy". Very 20s decor and super cute. The cocktails are not cheap, but it is a sip and enjoy type of place so I never end up ordering a huge number either.

The Majestic is southern inspired and also good. There is a spot a little away from downtown called Perks and Extra Perks which also have good breakfast. I work here so I am not often around for breakfast. Hope that gives you a start.
