Need a great date restaurant, possibly with dancing?
Hi - I'm not from the area, but visiting Pittsburgh in a couple of weeks and looking for the kind of place that you'd take the sort of person who listens to Ella Fitzgerald in their free time. It could be two separate locations, but I'd like dinner plus a little nightlife. The sort of place where you really dress up and hopefully have some live dinner music, followed by the kind of bar that whips of classic cocktails, possibly also with live music? Regarding the food, American cuisine or a steakhouse would be ideal.
Anything close? I'm from DC and I'd have a hard time filling this order in my area, but if anyone can come up with anything, I'd really appreciate it.

I would recommend two spots...My favorite, more for the tremendous jazz than the restaurant, is CJ's in the Strip District on Thursday nights. Roger Humphries (check out his bio online) conducts a jam session with some top quality musicians. The food is very good, but not elegant. A little more toward soul food, good steaks, fried catfish, etc... All tasty and in a great, friendly environment. Check out a clip from there one night:

While there is not a cover charge, the casino requires that you purchase the buffett....While I understand that this might not be what you want as far as dining goes, it is pretty good, and the music is always good!

That's a pretty good idea. The Grand Concourse is beautiful, and Station Square offers a number of places you can walk to that should have entertainment. You can also take the incline from Station Square up to Mt. Washington to enjoy the view.
Also, the Gateway Clipper fleet offers dinner/dance boat cruises that are pretty fun. The food is what you would expect...ribs and rubber chicken etc. but they are fun,
