Need a Good Restaurant in NJ ........close to Staten Island

In a few weeks we are having a mini reunion with about 8 friends....some in South Jersey Toms River some in Staten Island...we'd like to meet somewhere not to far from the outer bridge closer to SI...maybe Oldbridge, Matawan, Redbank? etc, etc,? or anywhere near the parkway would be good......
Italian preferred but American Continental is ok also any suggestions appreciated
we'd also like a Plave we can stay a while since we haven't seen each other in a while Dinner at 7pm ...maybe with a a lounge also afterwards or?..Thanks

Casa Giuseppe located right off the parkway 131 in Iselin on RT 27 and only 5 miles north of
RT 440 coming from SI. Food very good to excellent and the service old school Italian is excellent.

Full bar and valet parking with value pricing as they have rolled back their menu to 1997 pricing and selling all of their wine at 1/2 price. Still not cheap but a decent price point ...

Tapas, what you may want to consider is Il Castillo on Main St. in Woodbridge. Fine Northern Italian restaurant, good service and you have the latitude of being able to walk downtown Woodbridge which is safe and there's shops, a nearby brewpub and the Woodbridge Arts Center.

Just an aside. Red Bank isn't anywhere near Staten Island, in mileage, mentality or attitude. Just saying.......

Now we're getting somewhere ...great ideas keep em coming I appreciate it!! Ill Castillo
might be a bit to formal for this group need a bit more casual but still great food.
            website for the brew pub?

      2. OK so it's not Italian and not necessarily "American Continental" but whenever I need a place to meet someone near the Outerbridge on the NJ side, I think of Harold's.

Think ginormous pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, pickle bar, a slice of cheesecake big enough to feed a family.

A little further south is the Skylark Diner which meets your food preferences and also has a nice lounge with alcohol.

two good choices that I also thought about.......Skylark might be better due to its late hours compared to Harolds?
