NC Foodies Moving West to Napa; U-Haul Friendly Worthwhile Dining along I-81 & I-40?

Friends are packing for the move of a lifetime from Charlotte NC to Napa Valley. Avoiding fast-food but staying near the Interstate, can you folks give them a few tips?
Stage 1: Charlotte to Abingdon Va.
Stage 2: Abingdon to Knoxville to Nashville.
Moderately priced, 20' U-Haul friendly parking; family friendly menus. Thanks for the help!

It's not exactly a foodie destination, but your friends may want to know that Cracker Barrel (yes, the chain) has U-Haul friendly parking at all of their restaurants. They have simple, elegant pull through parking located to be easy in and out of the parking lots. After driving a U-Haul, they will be so thankful for a non-truck stop destination with rocking chairs to take the shudder out of driving.

We moved from NOLA to east Tennessee, doing it ourselves with three U-Haul loads. We knew the road well and the lack of good places to stop that weren't hard to get into or out of.

They might want to take I-26 north from Asheville as it's the newest of the three cross mountain interstates and is a gentler grade. If they are keeping their car separate, the classic Ridgewood BBQ in Piney Flats TN is about ten miles off of I-26.
