Anyone been to Ouest (Quest) Recently?
Given the limited choices on the UWS sending SO to Ouest (Quest) . . .
Couldn't find much when I did a search of this Board/Googled:

Anyone been recently? Your thoughts?
Would also welcome suggestions for UWS restaurants . . . He's been to JG and Bar Boulud. The menu at Compass didn't appeal to him. No Per Se or Masa. No Dovetail. Picholine's too formal. Any ideas besides A Voce or Telepan? Ciano's his new favorite but it's not on the UWS . . .
Thanks so much . . .

I like Boulud Sud a lot. The menu is more Mediterranean than Bar Boulud. The price point is a bit higher and the portions seem a bit smaller though.

Lincoln and Marea are also a good choices for Italian cuisine in that area.

My last dinner there was in mid-May. It's still a very good, consistent restaurant, but probably not on the same level as JG. The gravlax with chickpea pancake and the frisee aux lardons with smoked sturgeon appetizers are both still excellent; the braised beef rib main and the stewed tripe main are classic, well made versions. Service is always efficient, competent and nice.
In comparison to other UWS restaurants: In my experience, Ouest is much better than Compass, better than Telepan, and about on par with Dovetail. I have not been to either of these three restaurants in more than a year, however.
Other places I just want to throw out there for you to consider, without necessarily advocating on their behalf: Cafe Frida (upscale Mexican), Sushi of Gari (nouveau, Americanized sushi), Spiga (modern Italian), Pasha (Turkish), Kefi (Greek, very loud) and Ocean Grill (seafood).

Thanks so much. SO had a delicious dinner at Ouest. Had the house smoked sturgeon with poached egg, stuffed quail with French green lentils and a side of polenta (said the polenta was some of the best he's had). They also had chicken. Cheesecake for dessert.
Appreciate the additional recs for the future.

The polenta *is* very good. So are the fresh, warm ficelles they bring for the table. I'm so glad it worked out!

had a lovely dinner a couple of weeks ago at Nice Matin. For a neighborhood restaurant, they have an absolutely aMAZing wine list. and the food and service were definitely above par. We'll be back.
