It is Copper River Salmon season. Where should I go to get it?
Only sockeye is available from what I have seen:

Season's pretty much over for King / Chinook, which is the real prize everyone gets excited for. Not sure you'll find too much on the shelf anymore, if at all. Usually it runs from mid-May to mid-June.
Sockeye should be around for a bit longer, though. Citarella definitely has it, but as PP's prices pointed out above, they're hands down the most expensive. Coho should start showing up in August.
Whole Foods usually has it as well, worth checking.

I didn't see any Chinook this season. The fish mgr at Citarella told me they'd have to charge something like $50 and didn't think anyone would bite...Sockeye is still available (although how fresh it really is I can't tell except by sniffing...and sometimes that doesn't tell you everything since fishmongers know how to keep things looking good while the actual taste sometimes doesn't match.) Probably I will spring for it one last time this week.

Well, if Citarella would have had to sell it for $50, everyone else would have had it for $35 probably. Still higher than past years, either way. I think last year I paid a little under $30/lb for it the couple times I got it. Didn't get any Chinook this year, though, so couldn't really say...
