ISO downtown Vancouver bakery/cake shop

I'm looking for a bakery or cake shop downtown that serves great quality items. Something along the lines of Thomas Haas, but downtown.

Thanks!

Until Thierry Busset opens up shop, Ganache is your best bet downtown but it's not quite Thomas Haas (and they don't have the amazing pastries that TH has).

It depends what you consider downtown but the following bakeries on the downtown peninsula I'd put in the "great" category:

Boulangerie Cho Pain - 1165 Davie St
Tartine Bread & Pies - 770 Beach Ave
Nelson the Seagull - 315 Carrall St (NEW - I haven't tried yet but have heard very good things about their tarts)

Nelson the Seagull is well worth the effort of going to Gastown. It has a lovely picniccy atmosphere, and the food, all of which is done from scratch in the wide-open back kitchen, is very fresh and rather fine. The coffee is excellent as well.

Ganache in Yaletown is the only one I can think of but I don't know if it is as good as TH. I haven't been in a couple of years.
