great paris bistro...not too over the top - close enough in any direction to walk over after - or over to the trocadero to watch the lights glitter (when do they go out at night in july?)

Chez L'Ami Jean is a fav to this board and me as well. 4 blocks or so away and one of best meals in Paris. reserve early. Lights start at 9 PM go out at 1 AM, and sparkle for the first 5 minutes of each hour.

thanks for both of these suggestions. would you say that they are about comparable price-wise? i have my brother-in-law with...he's very down to earth and doesn't like very fussy...but loves good well-done food...appreciative of that.
