Cheap Lunch Recs for Burlingame/San Mateo

I work across the street from the Anza lagoon in Burlingame (Airport Blvd. at Bayview Pl.), and the lunch choices are dismal. I hit the Curry Up Now food truck when it's in the area, but that's only once a week. I'm looking for great, cheap food - not more than $9 out the door, cheaper is even better - and within 3 miles of my office. Recs for all cuisines are welcome except that I don't eat pork and don't care for offal. If there's something particularly good at a particular place, I would love to hear about it. Your help is appreciated.

About 5 miles but cheap: Tacos El Ranchito taco truck on El Camino Real in San Bruno just north of Millbrae (near the IHOP).

I feel your pain. Your best choices within that zone are (no sniping please)

Millbrae -Broadway or El Camino - Classic Sichuan, Hoa Ky, South Seas, or El Super Burrito

Burlingame - Broadway -- Taste In, Juban, Burlingame Farmers Market

Burlingame Ave - Mingalaba, La Corneta, Sapore Cafe (coming soon), Coconut Bay

Your best options are to keep an eye on the trucks -- Brisbane is far but it is nirvana compared to your local options. Given your no pork rule (which I share) Taste In is a good choice.

Add Cherimoya to the Burlingame Ave options - vietnamese takeout. The banh mi I had last time was delicious (though not *the most* traditional) and I think around $5. I think they do call-ahead take out too.

There are quite a few food trucks that gather in the parking lot of the office complex at 8000 Marina Blvd in Brisbane.

It's 7 miles to Tabla Flavors in Foster City. Thus only out of distance range, everything else is as you request.

Have you tried DilKhush? You can get a chaat for $4, and it's 2.5 miles away. I haven't been there. There's a taqueria called El Palenque on North Kingston that's closer.

The veg wraps at Taste In on Broadway are in your range. Hot Wok Bistro looks cheap and is within range.

Downtown San Mateo is exactly 3.0 miles away. You can get righteously stuffed at Pancho Villa for $8. I highly recommend the quesadilla suiza. Everyday Beijing is 3.2 miles, and their lunch specials are about 6.50, so you should fit in $9 otd. La Cumbre - $5 for a standard burrito, 2.7 miles. Menu: http://www.jatbar.com/menu.asp?num=149

I just searched Taqueria on Google Maps with your office roughly centered.

Mingalaba is great.... I've only been for dinner, but their website says they are open for lunch too. However, if their lunch prices are the same as at dinner, they maybe very slightly over you budget requirement (esp. with tax)... although it is likely that they have lunch specials that I am unaware of.
