Hey Littleman
Don't know whether or not you got my other message but here's the info on the place I mentioned on 72.
It's now called 72 Pit Stop Cafe. I talked to the owner and he said they serve "Old Fashioned BBQ Tamales." Apparently these are either smoked chicken or pork in cornmeal and in a paper wrapper then boiled in broth. So clearly not the same thing.
There's a taco truck on Governors at 9th that has Mexican tamales.
These are the only two confirmed tamales in the area. Neither what you're looking for.

What are Mexican tamales built like. Are they similar to Delta tamales. Here's a place you need to stop if you get in the Delta soon. Good luck.

Hey Littleman
I was doing some thinking and there was a place out on 72 East of HSV called Alabama Crawfish Company. They closed up shop last year but when I drove in for our Easter trip we passed it and a new place has opened up.
Anyway, ACC served delta tamales that were excellent. If you scroll to the bottom you'll see them and there's a link to a map to find the place.
It would not surprise me if they're under the same owner or mgmt. Perhaps they have tamales too.

Hey Littleman.
The only place I know of is in Corinth, Ms. Not Huntsville but not a prohibitive drive either. Most likely I'll be getting some this summer.
Not sure if you've seen this.

re: Davwud
Thanks Davwud. I don't like the Corinth tamales. My youngest son lives in Huntsville and he's looking for Delta style tamales. I have seen the tamale trail link. Good one. I found a restaurant in Chattanooga that has good tamales and there's a place in Birmingham but nothing in N Alabama.
