IMPORTANT VOTING NOTES: One hound, vote. In order for your vote to count toward July 2011 COTM selection, you must type your vote IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, for the sake of the coordinator.
Please cast your vote no later than WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22 at 5 P.M. PDT.
A word on how these books were selected for your consideration (because I know there has been some disgruntlement in the past regarding how many selections there have/have not been subject to a vote, and whether or not there has been a vote in any given month): The three books open to a vote herein were the only ones in the nominating thread that received more than two (2) nominations, and thereby distinguished themselves from a varied and [slightly] contentious field.
Let the voting begin!

July is going to be another Batali kind of month here in COTM-land. Here's a thread in which to talk about it until we get there: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/791763

I just received my copy of Italian Grill (no caps, I've already voted). This will be a no-lose month. It looks fabulous! I'm very excited!

This is a great month for me since I own all the books already! Two of them I have in the iBooks version on my iPad (Radically Simple and Molto Gusto). I haven't cooked anything from Radically Simple yet. The two Batali books I have cooked from with excellent results. And the Jaffrey book is a long-time favorite... one of my "desert island" cookbooks. So it is really hard to pick one, and I know I'll be pretty happy with any of the choices.
That said, it's the time of year when I prefer to do as much cooking outdoors as possible, so I'm going to go with MOLTO GUSTO and ITALIAN GRILL.

re: pikawicca
Both my kids had playdates yesterday so I got to spend a wonderful afternoon paging through books at Diesel, the sole independent bookstore left in my area. Unfortunately, their cookbook section is woefully small, so I wasn't able to preview all the titles. I miss The Cook's Library.
They did have Radically Simple so I spent some time perusing it. I will say it had some very appealing sounding recipes in it. I could see how it would make a good COTM selection. The recipes are fairly straight forward and of the type one could cook on a weeknight after work. I have 1 2 3 by the same author and it has a similar feel. But, and yes, I am sure you could sense a "but" was coming, I am afraid it falls into the category of books that I will probably never cook out of. Don't get me wrong, the recipes look solid, I just wasn't excited to cook out of it. t need a cookbook to seduce me. Having said that, if it is selected I am sure I will buy it, if only for the group experience.
As I said in the nominations thread, I am really motivated to do some summer cooking. I think Italian Grill will offer the kind of recipes I would look forward to making this July. We recently invested in a really good grill and it has motivated me to expand the grilling section of my cookbook collection. I just spent some time on Amazon reading the reviews for Mario's books (I don't own any at this point) and the reviews for Italian Grill really swayed my vote. It's available used from about $6.00
MOLTO GUSTO and ITALIAN GRILL.
