1. Kogi - The spicy pork taco is absolutely one of the best things I've eaten. Period.
2. Lardon - A bacon taco shell filled with cheesy fried potatoes and served with a horseradish sour cream! Wow!
3. Grill Em All - The Behemoth is just epic.
4. Buttermilk - Love the mini Red Velvet pancakes.
5. White Rabbit - As a filipino, I didn't think fusion would work. But their filipino meats served up as tacos are great!-----

re: Jase
With the sole, glaring exception of their cookies (just ... meh), I'm a big fan of their entire menu, Jase. Their variety is their hallmark but, imho what really sets them apart is their consistency which is somewhat of a premium in mobile cuisine. Let us know what you think after the weekend.

re: Kris P Pata
Thanks for the elaboration. I've had good luck with your recommendations in the past so they've definitely moved up in the list. Seems like my list of activities is growing for the event. I wasn't sure how much time I was going to spend there but between the music acts that sound intriguing, the demos and the various food offerings, it might be a pretty full day.

Lime Truck
Mariscos El Tetos
Alebrije's
Germany's Famous Bratwurst Truck
Tortas Ahogadas Los Primos...yes, damn it, the O.G. loncheras still count—and nobody yet has come up with something that's beat Alebrije's taco acorazado.

re: Das Ubergeek
I've liked just about every rec you've made, DU, and I know your love for Lime Truck. What do you order there? I have only been once, and it's been long enough that I don't remember exactly what I had, but it just wasn't that memorable. I do remember thinking they were overpriced, and everyone in the group I was in (five of us) were underwhelmed with the food. Maybe they've improved since I was there.
Some I've tried and liked:
Lobsta Truck;
Piaggio on Wheels;
Bacon Mania;
Kogi.
Tortas Ahogadas Los Primos is on my (very) short list. I agree that we need to give more love to the OG loncheras.

re: OCSteve
The menu changes so often for Lime that I just play it by ear... I do like the lamb burger a lot (especially if they have eggs with them and can put an egg on it).
I like Piaggio... Lobsta is good but I actually like the lobster roll from Slapfish better. It's not a true lobster roll but I still like it quite a lot.
I don't like Kogi. Too salty, too much kimchi-sour-lactic flavour everywhere, which overwhelms everything—and I'm allergic to stupidly long lines. Haven't had Baconmania.

re: Rodeline
The Lime Truck is @limetruck on Twitter and you'll see them in the next season of the Great Food Truck Race.
Germany's Famous (which has impressive German full-meals, not just bratwurst and schnitzel sandwiches) is @GermanBratTruck on Twitter.
Mariscos El Tetos parks from 11 a.m. to the evening (between 6-8 p.m. depending on who's manning the truck and how busy they are) on Lankershim Blvd. in Sun Valley, about a block south of the top end of Lankershim—north and east of the 5 freeway, just before San Fernando Rd. Fish tacos are excellent; cahuamanta is great; they also do plates of things like Pismo clams and caracoles when they're available.
Alebrije's is an unmistakable pink truck that parks from about lunchtime all the way through until 9-10 p.m. outside the Northgate market on Cubbon Street in Santa Ana, half a block west of Main St. in Santa Ana's Lonchera Lane. The taco acorazado isn't picture on the truck (recently redone), but it's what everybody orders. $4 for the taco, is a full meal by itself. Seriously.
Tortas Ahogadas Los Primos parks every day except Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fifth Street near the intersection of Hawley St. in Santa Ana. The thing to get (natch) is a torta ahogada. If you like really spicy things, get it "bien ahogada". If you just want some spice, get it "media ahogada".

re: Peripatetic
I've tried India Jones, Naan Stop, and No Tomatoes, and No Tomatoes blows the other two away. Well, maybe I should try India Jones again, but Naan Stop was underwhelming and way overpriced (nothing from a truck should cost $9, and the lamb thing I got was mediocre.) HOWEVER, No Tomatoes is amazing. Perfect price point, and seriously, the Chicken Tikka Masala bowl is finger-licking good, as in, you will run your finger around the bowl when you're done. Definitely a must-try.
