BB's in the Heights

After failing to track down H-Town StrEATs food truck at Buchannan's on Saturday (evidently they had some issue with access to their truck, but failed to tweet that info!), we ended up at BB's Cafe in the Heights (2701 White Oak at Studewood). I was hot and hungry so I was thinking any port in a storm will do. I am glad this was the port!

Though according to their website (www.bbscafe.com) they opened their original location in late 2007 (Montrose at Westheimer) I'd never heard of them. I don't think they've been in the Heights location long, but can't be sure. Anyhoo, we really love a good po-boy. My long running favorite is the fried shrimp po-boy at Acme Oyster Bar in New Orleans. This one is just as good - or dare I say it - possibly better! Then again, maybe that is just the distance talking.

I like my po-boys dressed with cheese on top. This one had a generous amount of well flavored fried shrimp, good bread, and good sauce. Of course it is huge, so sharing would be easy and probably better for you. Fries are yummy too - the thin cut kind that are not overly greasy. All in all, it was a hit and we'll be making our way back soon!
