Best Party Sandwich Platters

undesigned Jun 17, 2011 07:27 AM

I'd like to serve mini sandwiches for a birthday party in July. I originally thought I could do it myself but there are just too many people.

Any recommendations on where to get good sandwich platters? I know Porto's is a safe bet but was wondering if there were other places to consider.

You can't go wrong with Brent's Deli. Superb sandwiches, salads, etc.

I just had Mendocino Farm's Steak BLT with
carved steak, applewood bacon, romaine lettuce, roasted tomatoes, herb aioli, caramelized onions on toasted rustic white bread + Point Reyes Blue Cheese. Boy is that a good sandwich.

Bay Cities Italian Deli in Santa Monica. I just love their bread.

This is a good choice, but be advised that Bay Cities does not slice the 26" party-size sandwiches into individual portions. I learned this the hard way when I had to cut up a dozen enormous subs for a recent work lunch.

Mendacino Farms is a great choice. Very creative artisan sandwiches cut in half so you can have several choices. Much more creative than any of the deli choices. You will be very happy.

The sandwich descriptions do sound really enticing. Definitely leaning towards MF.

You will be happy. We bring in a platter from MF for Firm lunches (about 25 people) at least once a month. There are about 6 other places in our rotation for these gatherings and MF is by far the best.

Pretty sure of all the choices mentioned Porto's is the only one that does MINI Sandwiches.

You could also try Rockenwagner Bakery, they have good mini sandwiches as well.

The way Mendicino Farms does it, its half sandwiches.
