Hominy Grill Breakast in Charleston
There’s a wait outside the door on a typical weekday, but it goes quick. Tables are bunched-up together so you’re nearly eating with the folks at the next table.
But service is friendly and surprisingly efficient given the space constraints. Excellent coffee.
Shrimp and Grits was served with peppers, adding color and texture. Grits were creamy and slightly corny, as I love it. And there was something slightly spicy in the mix somewhere.
Country Breakfast was as advertised. Eggs were perfectly cooked over-medium, served with hominy grits, which were the same as the grits in the shrimp and grits dish: creamy, corny, cheesy. Yum. The homemade sausage was dry and tasteless, though. Tabasco sauce improved it a little. Biscuit was flaky and quite delicious.
This a cute little place, and if you order right it’s quite a nice breakfast.
