Ice cream around Wicker park

I would love some recommendations for any delicious ice cream/gelato in/around Wicker park. Or anywhere in the city. We can drive to wherever is great. I am looking for not your average ice cream sundae. Different flavor combos are what I'm after. Thanks!

I plan on going to black dog gelato, and finding snookelfritz at the green market on saturday. Shawn Michele ice cream looked interesting too. I was wondering if rainbow cone was any different than your usual soft serve place?

It's a little south of Wicker Park proper, but I don't think it gets any better than Black Dog Gelato. The hours are not correct as listed on their website (according to my friend that lives across the street), so if you head over later in the evening, call first. They also sell pints and half-pints to go. Amazing, amazing, amazing flavors. I can't recommend it enough!

You don't need to read the articles- I agree 100% with danimalarkey, that Black Dog's gelato is the most impressive I've ever had- if you're looking for the best in Chicago, don't miss it!

Not sure if this was in one of the articles included above, but this place is really neat- you create your own ice cream or yogurt and they freeze it for you there.

There is a Margies Candies at Milwaukee and Western that does a great job with sundaes. They are super old school, which to me is a good thing in an ice cream parlor. I'm not sure if you were looking for something more adventurous.
