Tenpenny?
This restaurant in midtown received a star from Sifton a few weeks ago. Curious if anyone has been and if so, what are your thoughts and what did you eat?
I need a moderate priced restaurant for a weekday dinner next week for a group of 5. Must please relatives who do not seem to like unfamiliar foods. (Ma Peche has been considered and rejected) The restaurant also has to please me, however, which is more difficult. Price is an issue, so no entries in the $40s, which rules out Ai Fiori, which I would love to try, as I am a big Michael White fan. Midtown location is good but willing to travel anywhere in Manhattan (or Queens)
I am also curious about Alfama, which just opened on East 52nd Street and might fit the bill.

re: SomeRandomIdiot
I don't know how I managed to miss that thread...thanks for posting it. As it turns out, my post of this morning is for naught since the relatives in question have decided that we all must return to Sapori d'Ischia (yet again).
But I now have Tenpenny on the radar and will get there sometime soon.

I haven't been to Tenpenny or Alfama, but how about Boulud Sud? I've only been there once but thought the food was great. Suitably foodie and not too adventurous, which is typical of DB's restaurants. Except for the ribeye, the entrees are below $40 and the restaurant also offers a $45 three course pre theater prix fixe.
