looking for a sit down dim sum place in chinatown

I will be staying close to the chinatown area in a few weeks. I will not have car so I need to find someplace with walking distance.

There are quite a few dim sum restaurants in Chinatown with seating, so you won't have any problem finding one. Are you looking for a large dining hall type of place, or are you more interested in food quality, as the two don't necessarily go hand in hand. Just to rattle off a few names there's Gold Mountain on Broadway, Don Hol and New Asia and Y Ben House on Pacific and New Hong Kong Menu on Commercial St. Lots of past threads discuss these and other dim sum options so use the function in the upper right hand corner of this page.

I was really looking for the whole push cart full of dim sum experience. After reading the many threads it sounds like that is a fading tradition. I want some good food so I may have to forgo the cart thing. Do you have a particular favorite place?

City View on Commercial Street has carts. It's not a large dining hall.

I really liked City View the one time I ate there. It's a beautiful restaurant, and they were very helpful to my friend who's a vegetarian.

I also really like City View. I like that it has better ambiance than some of the other Chinatown dim sum restaurants.

Gold Mountain which is right on Broadway is probably the best total experience.
