Chili Dog at Tub's Fine Chili

A friend told me and I checked their menu to confirm, that Tub's Chili has a chili dog on a cornbread roll.

They use an all beef Sabrett hot dog. So that's a good sign.

How is that cornbread roll?

I've had it twice. Once was very good and once not so much and the bun is the key. The dog is good and the chili is good. One of the two times I had the cornbread bun was frozen then microwaved so the bun was tough. But the other time the bun was fresher and it worked. The Bun is only half the size of the dog which makes for interesting eating.

Do you remember what kind of chili you had?

Just checked out Tub's this evening for the second time and we really enjoyed the turkey chili and their new "Miner's Special" -- the name is slipping me, but it was with bacon, beef and pinto beans and very good. Served over your choice of pasta, brown rice or in a bread roll. They have at least 8 different kinds of chili, including a vegetarian one, and a steak one, and a pork one, in addition to other items like amazing "buffalo chips" and massive home made ice cream sandwiches. Eat in or make it a great take out dinner. They also welcome your own chili recipe and if they like it enough, they will feature it!

Changing the topic a little bit --

In basically the same neighborhood, Johnnie's Pastrami makes a good chili dog. My wife orders it once in a while (when I go to JP I order corned beef on rye).

The JP chili dog is sort of a knife and fork affair -- it would be too messy to pick up and eat. But it's good.
