Flushing's best frozen dumplings?
Was in Flushing last weekend enjoying, among other things, wontons from White Bear. Obviously, there's no shortage of good dumpling and/or wonton places in the area, and nearly all of them offer frozen ones to take home.
Which ones are your favorites? Any all-veggie ones? And how do you go about preparing them: boiling, pan-frying?

I love the frozen dumplings from White Bear. I get the ones with sea cucumber in them. I prepare them by boiling for about 2 minutes then frying over high heat in a pan. I make a sauce with hoisin sauce, blck vinegar, sriracha and a touch of soy sauce.
They turn out great. I go through a whole bag of 40 pretty much every week.
While in Flushing, stop by Sifu Chio and get the HK style trio wontons--it's 3 kinds of wontons over lightly sauced noodles with broth in a separate bowl. There are condiments on the table to customize to your taste. This place is practically next to White Bear, has a red awning.

Good to know. Haven't had the dumplings from White Bear, only the wontons, so that'll be a new thing to try.
I love the guo tie from the shop on 41st Avenue in front of the LIRR station, how do the frozen ones measure up? Anyone gotten frozen dumplings from North-South Dumplings in the Golden Mall basement, or Shandong Dumplings on the first floor?

they're completely different. white bears are much more delicate than either of those although both of those are pretty decent

Is North-South the dumpling place next to Xian foods? (ie. the first stall you get to from the 41st road entrance?)
If so, I haven't bought them in a while but I used to buy frozen ones there all the time. I boiled them, since that is how I always had them from the stall. The thing I really liked about those dumplings was the sauce, so I would ask for extra for my frozen dumplings and then keep in the fridge until needed.

Yes, North-South (Nan Bei) is stall 1A in the basement. It is first one you see when you enter from 41st Rd.

i like their dumplings the best. i buy the pork and cabbage ones, i usually fry them (although they are good steamed or boiled) and then dip them in either sriracha if fried or soy sauce and spicy sesame oil

I prefer pan frying frozen dumplings. A dozen frozen dumplings in a no stick pan, half a cup of water and maybe a tbsp. of oil. Some people fry them frozen initially without the water, then pour the water in at the end. Either way cook until the water's gone and the dumpling is browned to taste.
