New Brunswick Restaurants for Large Group?

New here and had a question (Jersey girl originally but I've been away for the past 6 years, going to start working in NJ soon):

I'm trying to host a party of ~18 people (inviting 24 and thinking some may not show or reply to my invite). I'm trying to go for a low-key, casual place where we can a bite to eat since we're all meeting each other for the first time (we're going to start working together later this month and I figured we should try to get acquainted somewhat).

So I guess ideally I'm looking for a place where I can say, "Hey, I have a reservation here for 18 people at 6:30pm and we can hang at the bar beforehand." I'm really not familiar with New Brunswick restaurants. Was thinking Old Man Rafferty's but I am open to any an all suggestions. Thank you!

  1. Rafferty's could work, but I think i would like Tumulty's better. Ask if you can have the downstairs - they don't usually have it open on weeknights, but they might for a group that large.

Was planning for a Sunday night. Called Tumulty's and they were more than happy to accommodate my requests. The room downstairs seemed good, but a little big and needed some other stuff to be done beforehand, so I just reserved a table. I'll try to post a follow-up after our dinner. Thank you for your help!

    2. Try contacting George Street Ale House http://www.georgestreetalehouse.com/ They have a fairly large area upstairs and might even be able to open down stairs.

      1. Maybe Stuff Yer Face? Very low key and casual, ask if you can have the upstairs (which will be the only section big enough for a group of 18)
