Boston for One Dinner and One Lunch Waterfront
My husband and I are passing through Boston on a quick business trip and we will just have time for one dinner and one lunch. We are staying at the Harborside Inn. We both love all types of foods and just want a great local meal. We prefer not to spend a small fortune and really like places that have a lot of character rather than being too stuffy. I've been reading through the boards and here's what we are thinking:
Dinner- Neptune Oyster- how long might the wait be on a Wed night?
Lunch- Pizzeria Regina
Pick up a dessert along the way at Modern Pastry
How does that sound? Any other suggestions for dinner and lunch that might be better? Any place to pick up a quick light breakfast in case we want a bite before lunch?
Thanks for your help!
Danielle

hi d, great choices and Wed. shouldn't be too bad for waits. Every time we go to N.O. the wait is an hour, but now you can stroll or sit nearby on the Greenway, by fountains, and gaze!! At Modern> almond biscotti and sfogliadelle and torrone! At Regina's, make sure and get well done! Hope youall enjoy yourselves and come back for a longer stay :-)

Those choices certainly did not disappoint. Neptune Oyster was fantastic. We had the Clam Chowder and Neptunes on Piggyback and then split a lobster roll. Everything was delicious. The Neptunes on Piggyback were especially tasty and a great fusion of flavors.
Pizzeria Regina was no doubt some of the best pizza we had ever eaten. Strolling through the neighborhood was great also. We had the Pizza Margherita and were thrilled with it.-----

re: Small Plates
small, but 'ya gotta say what TIME of day, wednesday; plse.
p.s. what are we going to do? we can't stop telling visitors about a place that makes them all so happy, can we?(every single time we have gone, admitedly less than 10, the table on either side of us has been non-locals and 75% of those times- non Americans.) The owner related to me no inclination to go bigger " and screw things up", but maybe the crowds WILL get him to grow, and maybe it WON'T screw things up. After all, Todd English pulled off that trick for many years at the second (current) Olives location in Charlestown. (CHs ready to skewer me, i did not say ALL his years; I said 'many'.)

That itinerary works for me. I've actually done exactly that. Hard to say on the wait at Neptune.but worth the wait. I think you can put your name in and have a drink nearby. They're all very close to your hotel/inn. For a light casual breakfast, Anthony's is quick and casual. Step out the door of your inn and take a left onto the Greenway. Maybe a 5 min walk.
eta... While both of these restaurant are near the waterfront, as is Harborside Inn..none are on the water. I think I'd stick to your eating plans and have a drink at Joe's on the Waterfront or the bar at Oceana at Marriot Long Wharf, before or after dinner....I also like Aragosta on Battery Wharf Fairmount Hotel, limited water views.
