Best Tiki Bar and/or Tiki Drinks in DFW

Any suggestions on where to get good Tiki drinks and cocktails in DFW? We've been wanting to have a cocktail night, but since Trader Vic's closed, don't know where to go for the best Tiki drinks and atmosphere. Would prefer a more retro and/or authentic place as opposed to a cheesy Joe's Crab Shack or Tiki Bob's type restaurant. Bonus points for something in East Dallas!

  1. Charlie at the Windmill can make said drinks. Call a few days ahead and they can pull in all the props.

    1. Hated that Trader Vics closed.

Not a Tiki Bar, but a cool retro vibe, Cedars Social has to be making some of the best cocktails in town. Everything is absolutely fresh, no short cuts. Juices squeezed fresh daily and a great assortment of top shelf spirits. I'm positive they can make just about anything you'd want. Pretty sure I saw a Painkiller (personal favorite) on the menu last time I was there. 70's style punch bowl service and the food is great to boot, try the short rib sliders.

      1. Windmill is my personal favorite, and besides Cedars Social, I'd also add The Usual in FW and Bolsa in Oak Cliff. You'll get excellent classic cocktails (including tiki) at any of those bars.

        1. Thanks for the suggestions all! I hope to try at least one of these places out in the next couple of weeks. It's a shame none of the original DFW tiki bars are still around, but after a couple of Zombies, I guess the decor won't matter much anyway!
