Great lunch deals in Center City?

PhillyStyle Jun 12, 2011 08:43 AM

I wanted to see if you guys would share your thoughts about great lunch specials in Center City? This could especially include places that are kind of expensive for dinner, but more reasonable for lunch. I've had a nice lunch special at Chifa, and I've heard that Amada also has something for lunch.
Other options that you like? This is for a Monday lunch, if that rules out anyplace....

I haven't been, but the prix fixe tasting menu at Matyson (http://www.matyson.com/) was recommended on this board a number of times. It is only served Monday - Thursday for lunch. Of course they also have a regular lunch menu that looks very reasonable compared to dinner.

I made sure to make a reservation for when I am there in a couple of weeks.

Estia has a great three course business lunch for $30 that is very comparable to what you'd get at dinner for a fraction of the price.

I remember thinking that Moriomoto's omakase was a good deal for lunch - assuming that you want a huge and very long lunch. I've no idea if it's as good or as long as the dinner version, but, IIRC, it was far more affordable.

Seems perfect for someone just back from a trip to Europe, whose stomachs are ready for dinner at noon.
