Great chili fries and more at Santa Maria BBQ

I know chili fries aren't up there in the foodie pantheon like soup dumplings or sushi stroganoff, but I love this place - love their tri-tip, chicken, especially their fabulous, juicy, perfect burgers and their chili fries. The fries are fresh (I order them well done) and the chili is hand made from their leftover tri-tip. It's the real deal - not like the chili-brick slop they use at Tommys and most burger stands; they should serve that stuff in a diaper.

Santa Maria is to savor. I'm not a big fan of the ribs - but a lot of people are. I prefer Baby Blues. But this is a heck of a nice place, less cramped and far more relaxed than BB's. The people are cool and nice, the prices reasonable, the food carefully made with enough deftness to enhance, not overwhelm the natural flavors of the high quality ingredients. It's not fusion anything but more importantly it's not confusion -it's brilliant back to basics.
