Gift for a new cake baker/decorator

Wonderful friend has taken up cake decorating. I know he went and bought tons of supplies already. Is there something that a seasoned cake decorator uses and loves, but he might not know about? Or is this a bad gift idea? I know he is into using fondant a lot, if that helps. Thanks.

Great idea, but difficult if you don't know what he has. Maybe you could ask some questions out of interest and discover what he's missing or coveting. How about a gift card to his favorite supply store wrapped up with a fabulous raised cake stand to display his latest masterpiece?
