Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in California (exc. LA, SF Bay Area, San Diego)

Incline for a crowd.

Driving from the Thunderbird Lodge to Dollar point on a Saturday after a tour. Will have a party of about 20. Looking for a place to stop along the way home with views, strong food, reservations accepted and reasonable pricing. No strong feeling about cuisine type, really open to anything, just to please all the palates. Thanks for the help.

  1. I'm not sure you can reserve a table for 20 at either of these spots but Sunnyside and Christy Hill have beautiful views on the lake and pretty good food.

Sunnyside and Christy Hill aren't along the way but ARE good choices and even Sunnyside isn't that far away. I've never been aware of Sunnyside taking reservations for lunch. West Shore Cafe (again not along the way) has reopened under your ownership with a more moderate menu.

Along the way? With a view? Boy, slim pickings. Does Lone Eagle Grille do lunch? There's Jason's, nothing to write home about food-wise but a view. Gar Woods certainly has the view but, again, I'm betting they wouldn't take a res but worth calling. IMO so-so food. Jakes in Tahoe City. Good view, ho hum food. Bridge Tender in Tahoe City is on the river and has a lovely patio area but I don't believe they take reservation nor could they handle that size crowd.

Wish I could be more positive. But you'll enjoy yourselves, I'm sure.

    2. I'm sure Caliente in King's Beach could handle a group of twenty, and yes, Lone Eagle does do lunch ... food, meh ... view, outstanding.

Does Caliente have a view from upstairs? I haven't been there.

oh, right - views. forgot about that part! i'm not absolutely sure if you can see the water from the upper deck. you'd think ... i suppose they could call.

It's kinda funny, isn't it? I certainly don't take our incredible views for granted but OP's criteria, which aren't that restrictive, are difficult to meet.
