Dinner near Wellington and John on Saturday

This request is coming a little late but can anyone recommend a mid priced Italian or other casual mid priced resto in the area. We have no strong preferences other good food atmosphere and value. Terrroni is full so any other recomendations would be appreciated

I was at Le Select Bistro a few weeks ago. An enjoyable experience!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Unfortunately mostof the ther recomended places were booked solid. On of my wifes co-workers recommended a place I had never heard of Vagabondo. Its on Wellington so we gave it a try. It was one of the worst meals I have ever eaten in this city. When (if) I calm down I will post about it.

Oh no - sorry to hear! I had takeout from Vagabondo once & it was enough. Extremely salty - blech.

I do not understand why this place continues to exist. I had calamari appetizer. I am certain that it was frozen squid rings. It came with a serving of jarred seafood cocktail sauce--this from a so called Italian restaurant. I ordered a seafood pasta which is supposedly one of their sgnature dishes. It was supposed to have a combo of shrimp scallops mussells and crab legs. It came with three decent sized shrimp all overcooked. The dish also a second king of shrimp- salad shrimp presumably from a can. The "scallops" were about the same size as the salad shrimp. There were two sections of crab leg again horribly overcooked, so much so that you could not coax the meat out of the shell. Lots of mussels all with no flavor at all. However it must be me. The place was packed and they were turing people away at the door.....

Why does it still exist? Tourists.

If you're looking for casual and moderate, Bar Wellington is right there. Reasonable prices, nice patios.

I'd try that new joint Wvrst. It's at 609 King West. A bit of a walk. From what I hear, it's worth it if you're into Sausages, Beer and Duck Fat Frites(because that's all they serve!!!). I know I am!
Pretty casual tho, from what I hear. But sounds like a cool concept.

Failing that, I agree that Rodney's Specials are always 'on'.

I like Mercatto too but a teeny bit of a walk since their closest location is on Bay St. I tried Luma for the 1st time a few weeks back & enjoyed my meal. Jules Bistro is kind of in the area you are looking at, though they close at 9PM on Saturdays. Not sure if you want seafood/oysters but Rodney's always has some great daily specials. I like Yuzu too in that hood for Japanese.
